Sudzers December 2020 meeting notes

Hello, Sudzers! In the final meeting of 2020, we had a light agenda, but had a great time hanging out, discussing HomebrewCon 2021, and tasting six delicious brews. Hope everyone has a great holiday and New Year, and thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:
– Several members got together for a virtual brew day to brew this year’s batch of Dark Matter.
– As of now, Homebrew Con 2021 is on and will be held in San Diego. We’ll keep the club updated on whatever we learn. If all goes well, this would be a great opportunity for us to represent our club and finally hang out again in person. More info can be found at https://www.homebrewcon.org/
– Several of our members got together to share beers with each other. During the meeting, each brewer talked about their beer and got feedback from the people they shared it with. Thanks to everyone who participated!

As a reminder, club dues are collected on a calendar year basis. Becoming a paid member gets you a discount at MoreBeer in Los Altos, as well as access to the special members-only events we do through the year.

Hello, Sudzers! In October’s virtual meeting, we met several new members, had an awesome presentation about “Hazy Science”, discussed plans for an upcoming BJCP exam, and shared six delicious homebrews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:
– Welcome new members, Vickie and Thom!
– Remember, membership dues need to be made every calendar year. If you haven’t paid yet, then you can make a payment of $25 to Derek via paypal at derek@sudzers.org
– Mike C. and Cliff bottled the Solera brew. Robert C. will coordinate the bottle distribution to the members who contributed.
– Mike C. will send out a message to update us on bottling/refilling the barrel that’s currently storing a collab Saison.
– Robert C. and Derek W. will be coordinating the Dark Matter Bottling day.

Black Is Beautiful brewing experiment crafts prized – and creative – beers, from the Los Altos Town Crier

Sudzers CFO Derek W’s column has been on hiatus for a few months as the Los Altos Town Crier has downsized special sections during the pandemic, but it’s back with a quick rundown of 19 California variations on the amazing Black Is Beautiful imperial stout collaboration started by Weathered Souls Brewing Co. Proceeds from all 1100+ participating breweries are being donated to local organizations that support police reform, legal defense efforts, and equality and inclusion. #blacklivesmatter
