Sudzers October 2017 meeting notes
In October’s meeting, we met some new members, did the off-flavor tasting of the month, and tasted thirteen delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!
Business:
– Congratulations to Marc-Andre and Jenn on their new addition to their family!
– Welcome new members Cliff and Mark!
– Derek W. handed out Polo shirts to all paid members
– Steve H. recapped another incredible NCHF. Did we actually have *too much* beer!? We’ll discuss this before next year’s event.
– Marc-Andre has volunteered to host this year’s Dark Matter Brew Day, which is tentatively set for November 11. More details to follow.
– Rich has volunteered to host this year’s Christmas Party, which is tentatively set for December 9. More details to follow.
– We’ll need volunteers to bring and/or serve beer for Stanford’s Beerfest on November 18. Danny will follow up with more details.

Business:

– Please enter your beer information in https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Y2L_JBTKQFy_0yLsXnDx_b1Hf6e3f8jjxyuJJLUWCM/edit#gid=0 if you’re attending NCHF. Also, you may want to bring chairs, floor fans, misters, etc. for the tent.
– We’ll need volunteers to bring and/or serve beer for Stanford’s beerfest. More details to follow.
– Jim hosted the off-flavor of the month: light-struck/skunk.
– We need a volunteer for this year’s Sudzers Christmas party. Please let us know if you’re interested in hosting.
– We also need a volunteer to host this year’s Dark Matter brew day. Again, please let us know if you’re interested in hosting.
– Marc-Andre brought up the idea of the San Jose Brew Bike (http://www.sanjosebrewbike.com/). Please contact Marc at harvey.marcandre@gmail.com if you’re interested in attending.
– NOTE: our next meeting may take place at the Steins in Cupertino, so please plan accordingly. We’ll make sure to mention the location in October’s meeting announcement.

– This year’s Northern California Homebrewers Festival (NCHF) is September 15-16. Tickets go on sale Sunday, July 16 at 10:00am and Saturday, July 22 at 10:00am. See http://www.nchfinfo.org/ for more info. Thanks, Steve C. for volunteering to be the event coordinator!
– Derek sent out a spreadsheet to keep track of who’s going and what everyone’s bringing. Please fill it out if you plan on attending: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Y2L_JBTKQFy_0yLsXnDx_b1Hf6e3f8jjxyuJJLUWCM/edit?usp=sharing
– We’re pouring again this year at Hoppy Hour. Last year we went through around 40 gallons of beer, so we need beer! Hoppy Hour beers are typically 6% and less, so start thinking about what you want to brew.
– We’re looking for volunteers to help organize and judge the Santa Clara County Fair Homebrew competition this Summer. Reach out to Steve H. at Stephen.Hutzler@power.com if you’d like to volunteer. The main judging event is this Saturday, July 15.
