As a reminder, club dues are collected on a calendar year basis. Becoming a paid member gets you a discount at MoreBeer in Los Altos, as well as access to the special members-only events we do through the year.
Agenda:
– Organizing for the Northern California Homebrewers Festival (NCHF) which will be held Sept. 16-17, 2022.
– Discussion of ideas to get members involved in signing up to do presentations or to help find speakers.
– Derek will be collecting dues. If you’d like to pay club dues, please send $25 via Paypal to derek@sudzers.org or give him $25 in person this Sunday.
– As a reminder, we are still looking for people to step into the President and VP roles. Please let us know if you’re interested in any of these.
– Homebrew evaluations. Don’t forget to bring your recipe as club members will have lots of questions. Sign in your beer along with your name and statistics (IBU, ABV, etc.). The info is optional, but helpful in determining tasting order.

For our May meeting, Derek gave an update on the Santa Clara County Fair Homebrew Competition. And, last but not least, we tasted seven great homebrews. Thanks to Stein’s and everyone who showed up!
Business:
– We welcomed a new member, Logan. Welcome to the club!
– We got an update on the Annual Santa Clara County Fair Homebrew Competition which is being hosted by the Sudzers and the Grain Trust. The competition is looking for judges and stewards to assist with judging at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose on Saturday, July 23. There might also be preliminary judging conducted in the South Bay & Peninsula on weekends and weekday evenings beginning July 17. If you are interested in judging or stewarding, please fill out the brief questionnaire at https://forms.gle/7VTDQvh8qT4imw73A no later than June 15, 2022. If you’re interested in entering the competition, details and the registration link are at: https://bit.ly/3ON3VxH. The competition is also looking for volunteers to help collect the entries at the fairgrounds on July 16.
– We’re still looking for volunteers to take over as club President, Vice President, and Competition Guru. Please let me or any other current officer know if you’re interested in any of these positions.

For our April meeting, Lance Shaner, owner of Omega Yeast, joined us via Zoom. He discussed Omega Yeast’s history, operations, and their kveik, hybrid and bioengineered strains. In addition, Derek gave his treasurer’s report for 2021. And, last but not least, we tasted five great homebrews. Thanks to Stein’s and everyone who showed up!
