For our May meeting, we discussed the upcoming Santa Clara County Fair Homebrew Competition. Then we tasted eight great homebrews. Thanks to Stein’s and everyone who showed up.
– The Santa Clara County Fair Homebrew Competition will be held Saturday, July 27. The Sudzers are co-organizing it with The Grain Trust. Registration is open, and the deadline is June 26. Entries can be dropped off at Clandestine Brewing in San Jose through Friday, July 12. Entries will also be accepted at the Fiesta Hall at Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14. The Best of Show winner will get to have their beer brewed at Clandestine. For more details: https://thefair.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Home-Brew-Competition-2024.pdf. Anyone interested in judging or stewarding can fill out the brief questionnaire at https://forms.gle/GMVkWT3NH7sPfV1n7 by June 30. If you’re willing to help with accepting entries at the fairgrounds you can contact Derek directly.
– Other business: We briefly discussed the homebrew competition that was held at the San Mateo County Fair before the pandemic. Kevin will reach out to the organizers of the fair to see if there’s any interest in having a competition in the future. Another topic that came up was a possible field trip to Admiral Maltings in Alameda; Robert will take a look at this.
