As a reminder, club dues are collected on a calendar year basis. Becoming a paid member gets you a discount at MoreBeer in Los Altos, as well as access to the special members-only events we do through the year.

– March Sud Talk: Guest Gigayeast on how to propigate yeast
– Homebrew evaluations. Remember, bring your recipe – club members will have lots of questions! Sign in your beer along with your name and statistics (IBU, ABV, etc.). The info is optional, but helpful in determining tasting order.

Sudzers January 2018 meeting notes

Happy New Year! In January’s meeting, we reviewed our financial report, discussed upcoming events and ideas for 2018, presented the Homebrewer of he Year award, viewed Robert C.’s homebrew setup, and tasted twelve delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:
– Derek W. is collecting dues for 2018. Dues are $25 and can be paid by cash at the next meeting or via paypal to derek@sudzers.org
– Derek W. is also selling t-shirts: $15 for polos, $10 for t-shirts, $5 for clearance t-shirts.

– Congratulations to Robert C., the Sudzers’s 2017 Homebrewer of the Year!
– Clandestine Brewing (http://www.clandestinebrewing.com/) has been generous enough to offer the Sudzers a brewery tour. More info to come.
– Robert C. has malt from Admiral Malting (http://admiralmaltings.com/) for sale. A few Sudzers have already purchased some, and we plan on having all beers brewed with the malt presented at an upcoming meeting. More info to come.

– The National Homebrewers Conference will be held June 28-30 in Portland, Oregon. We suspect many Sudzers will be joining, so we’ll make sure we get everyone coordinated before the event. For more info: https://www.homebrewcon.org/

Sudzers November 2017 meeting notes

In November’s meeting, we recapped the Dark Matter Brew Day, did the off-flavor tasting of the month, learned about cleaning and sanitizing your equipment, and then tasted seventeen delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:
– Welcome, Alan, to his first meeting!
– Remember, there is no December meeting. Instead, we will have our annual Holiday Party, which will be at 6:30 on Saturday, December 9th at Rich’s house. For directions, please email us at moresimcoe@sudzers.org

– Also, please email me (again at cocamide@gmail.com) if you’d like to nominate yourself or anyone else for a Sudzer Officer position for 2018. Positions are President, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Communications Officer.
– Thanks Marc-Andre and Jenn for hosting Dark Matter Brew Day, where six brewers got together to brew 43 gallons of the imperial stout!
– Jim and Charles hosted the off-flavor of the month: lactic acid
– Robert C. brought in and distributed several malts from Admiral Maltings (http://admiralmaltings.com/). We look forward to see what everyone brews with these.

In October’s meeting, we met some new members, did the off-flavor tasting of the month, and tasted thirteen delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

– Congratulations to Marc-Andre and Jenn on their new addition to their family!
– Welcome new members Cliff and Mark!
– Derek W. handed out Polo shirts to all paid members
– Steve H. recapped another incredible NCHF. Did we actually have *too much* beer!? We’ll discuss this before next year’s event.
– Marc-Andre has volunteered to host this year’s Dark Matter Brew Day, which is tentatively set for November 11. More details to follow.
– Rich has volunteered to host this year’s Christmas Party, which is tentatively set for December 9. More details to follow.
– We’ll need volunteers to bring and/or serve beer for Stanford’s Beerfest on November 18. Danny will follow up with more details.
