Sudzers November 2017 meeting

Hello Sudzers! Our next meeting will be held at 4:00pm this Sunday, November 12th at Steins Beer Garden in Mountain View.

As a reminder, club dues are collected on a calendar year basis. Becoming a paid member gets you a discount at MoreBeer in Los Altos, as well as access to the special members-only events we do through the year.

Agenda:
– The Dark Matter Brew Day is this Saturday at Marc-Andre’s house! We’ll recap the brew day during the meeting.
– Remember, there’s no Sudzers meeting in December. We will, however, have our annual Holiday Party on December 9th at Rich’s house. More details to follow.
– If you have nominations for Homebrewer of the Year or would like to run as an Officer, then please send your nominations to me at cocamide@gmail.com
– Off-flavor of the month session
– Homebrew evaluations. Remember, bring your recipe – club members will have lots of questions! Sign in your beer along with your name and statistics (IBU, ABV, etc.). The info is optional, but helpful in determining tasting order.

Sudzers October 2017 meeting notes

In October’s meeting, we met some new members, did the off-flavor tasting of the month, and tasted thirteen delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:
– Congratulations to Marc-Andre and Jenn on their new addition to their family!
– Welcome new members Cliff and Mark!
– Derek W. handed out Polo shirts to all paid members
– Steve H. recapped another incredible NCHF. Did we actually have *too much* beer!? We’ll discuss this before next year’s event.
– Marc-Andre has volunteered to host this year’s Dark Matter Brew Day, which is tentatively set for November 11. More details to follow.
– Rich has volunteered to host this year’s Christmas Party, which is tentatively set for December 9. More details to follow.
– We’ll need volunteers to bring and/or serve beer for Stanford’s Beerfest on November 18. Danny will follow up with more details.
– Jim and Charles hosted the off-flavor of the month: acetic acid. Learn more about it at http://www.milkthefunk.com/wiki/Acetic_Acid
– Judges are needed for the Queen of Beer 2017 competition: http://queenofbeer.beer/

In September’s meeting, we discussed NCHF, did the off-flavor tasting of the month, and then tasted nine delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:
– Derek W. handed out Polo shirts to all paid members
– Please enter your beer information in https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Y2L_JBTKQFy_0yLsXnDx_b1Hf6e3f8jjxyuJJLUWCM/edit#gid=0 if you’re attending NCHF. Also, you may want to bring chairs, floor fans, misters, etc. for the tent.
– We’ll need volunteers to bring and/or serve beer for Stanford’s beerfest. More details to follow.
– Jim hosted the off-flavor of the month: light-struck/skunk.
– We need a volunteer for this year’s Sudzers Christmas party. Please let us know if you’re interested in hosting.
– We also need a volunteer to host this year’s Dark Matter brew day. Again, please let us know if you’re interested in hosting.
– Marc-Andre brought up the idea of the San Jose Brew Bike (http://www.sanjosebrewbike.com/). Please contact Marc at harvey.marcandre@gmail.com if you’re interested in attending.
– NOTE: our next meeting may take place at the Steins in Cupertino, so please plan accordingly. We’ll make sure to mention the location in October’s meeting announcement.
